DESCRIPTION:Burnley junior parkrun is held every Sunday at 9:00am in the picturesque and historical\, Towneley Park. The events are free\, fun\, and friendly weekly 2k run for juniors (4 to 14 year olds).​ \n\n\n\nChildren can run\, jog or walk the course\, with parents if they wish\, and will always be cheered on by fabulous volunteers and other runners.  \n\n\n\nA great way to start your Sunday\, before going to explore what the rest of Towneley park has to offer! \n\n\n\nWhat does it cost to join in?\n\n\n\nNothing – it’s free! We ask the participants please register before you first come along and remember to bring a scannable copy of your barcode (request a reminder). If you forget it\, your child won’t get a time.Adults will not be permitted into the finishing tunnel. See Course page for more details on the route.

DESCRIPTION:Burnley Nature Festival is Back\n\n\n\nJoin us for a fun-filled day at Towneley Park with lots of Active\, Creative and Nature based activities that help us connect with our wonderful OutdoorTown. There will be activities for EVERYONE\, delivered by an amazing array of partners and organisations. \n\n\n\nThe Nature Festival itself is free to attend\, but extras such as face painting\, tombola\, books\, jams\, and other treats sold in support of local groups may have additional charges. \n\n\n\n\n\nWhats on?\n\n\n\nThe day as always\, will be a jam packed event\, full of active\, creative and nature based outdoor activities and opportunities for everyone.  \n\n\n\n\nWinston Plowes – Create a beautiful community mandala using natural materials.\n\n\n\nRibble Rivers Trust – Enjoy nature crafts and take part in a freshwater Micro Safari to discover river wildlife.\n\n\n\nChloe’s Facepaints – Get creative with nature-themed face painting. (Cost Applies)\n\n\n\nCalico Homes – Take part in fun environmental awareness games for children.\n\n\n\nRainbow Tent Drummers – Experience drumming\, woodland activities and a relaxing forest sound bath.\n\n\n\nLancashire Wildlife Trust – Make your own moss bog in a jar and discover exciting new nature projects.\n\n\n\nCulture Burnley – Join a variety of workshops throughout the day in the Little Big Top.\n\n\n\nGo Velo – Try the Smoothie Bike\, have a go on a bike\, get a bike check-up with Dr Bike\, and join led rides.\n\n\n\nPendle Plant Craft – Take part in a guided foraging walks and talks.\n\n\n\nBurnley Youth Theatre – Enjoy Wild Wonders with crafts\, storytelling\, sensory play and outdoor activities inspired by children’s books.\n\n\n\nNGT Great Outdoors Team from Offshoots – Join guided walks\, explore the Creative Autumn Towneley Village\, and follow the self-led Autumn Trail.\n\n\n\nPennine Lancashire Community Farm – Make your own seed bombs to take home.\n\n\n\nThe Prospects Foundation – Visit the Eco Refill Shop and spin the daisy prize wheel for eco-themed prizes.\n\n\n\nYES Energy Solutions – Energy Explorers\n\n\n\nFriends of Ightenhill Park – Take part in a family scavenger hunt and nature trail.\n\n\n\nTenderfoot Theatre – Join the Climate Café and explore climate action through creative conversation.\n\n\n\nBurnley Together – Discover food waste activities and sustainable growing ideas.\n\n\n\nFriends of Thompson’s Park – Enjoy Hook-a-Duck and take part in mindfulness tree and sapling planting activities.\n\n\n\n\nThe programme is still growing\, with more activities and exhibitors being confirmed all the time. Keep checking back for the latest updates and new additions to the programme or follow the event on Facebook \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nNew for this year\, the Friends of Towneley Park Duck Race joins the Burnley Nature Festival programme! \n\n\n\nFor just £1 per duck\, visitors can take part in this fun filled fundraiser and cheer their duck on to the finish line\, with a £100 first prize up for grabs. Every ticket sold helps support the valuable work of the Friends of Towneley Park\, funding projects and improvements that benefit the park and its visitors.Duck tickets can be purchased online here – or from various venues across the borough.  \n\n\n\n\nBuy Duck Race Tickets Here\n\n\n\n\n\n \n\n\n\n\n\nDress for the weather\n\n\n\nThe majority of the festival will be outdoors around Towneley Hall gardens\, woods and Offshoots Community Garden. The festival aims to highlight all the fantastic ways to enjoy the outdoors\, rain or shine. Unless a severe weather warning is in place\, the event will go ahead\, so dress for the weather.
