In partnership with Burnley Leisure and Burnley Borough Council, the Green Activity Coordinator is putting on a log session at West End Community Centre, Burnley. In this session the Green Activity Coordinator will be providing logs from a local woodland that came from felled trees. They will be transplanted to West End Community Centre. There they will be part buried into the ground so that they can begin to rot. Once they begin to rot they will provide a source of food for small bugs and insects. The broken down wood will also encourage fungus spores to fruit allowing mushroom bodies to come into bloom over the summer months. Families with Children aged 6-11 will be able to come along and help with the digging and submerging of the logs. They will also get to learn about why we are doing it and what benefits this will provide to the ecosystem.
