Tennis Courts

The Council has 11 courts across the borough many which have just been renovated through a Lawn Tennis Association (LTA) capital investment scheme. The courts have a mix of new surfaces, nets, posts and all have a new gate access systems installed.

Bowling Greens

Burnley has many fine bowling greens and our community bowling greens provide a welcoming space for people of all ages and abilities. These greens preserve cultural traditions and heritage, offering inclusive recreational opportunities that strengthen community bonds.

Golf Courses

Golf in Burnley offers a fantastic experience for enthusiasts of all skill levels. With several notable courses and facilities including a driving range, pitch and putt and mini golf, Burnley can cater to both casual players and serious golfers.

Golf at Towneley

The stunning surroundings of Towneley Golf take some beating. Set within the beautiful mature woodlands and grounds of Towneley Park, Burnley, we have a challenging 18-hole course for golfers of all abilities, and a hidden gem of an 18-hole par 3 pitch and putt course.

The club house and shop now includes a bar serving hot drinks, snacks, draught, and bottled beers that can be enjoyed in our members’ lounge or extensive outside seating area. Upstairs, the 197 Bistro & Bar is a perfect destination for breakfast, lunch and drinks and is open for all to enjoy throughout the week.

Golf at the Prairie Sports Village

The impressive complex at Prairie Sports Village is home to Burnley’s only purpose-built
Toptracer Range. You’ll also find a PGA professional golf academy with Elite Golf Performance Centre’s alongside, mini golf and short game practice area. Whether you’re a seasoned or first-time golfer, or just looking to have a laugh with your friends and family, the facilities have something for you.

Burnley Golf Club

Burnley Golf Club was founded in 1905 and was originally known as The Glen View Golf Club. The club is on the edge of Habergham Eaves moors, making excellent use of the rolling countryside.
Glen View, as it is known locally, offers a true test of golf to golfers of every standard. The panoramic views from the course and the clubhouse are truly breath-taking, and include Pendle Hill, the Ribble Valley, Gorple Moor and the ‘Three Peaks’ of Ingleborough, Whernside and Pen-y-Ghent and the Lakeland hills beyond.
