Burnley Nature Festival is Back
Join us for a fun-filled day at Towneley Park with lots of Active, Creative and Nature based activities that help us connect with our wonderful OutdoorTown.
There will be activities for EVERYONE, delivered by an amazing array of partners and organisations.
The Nature Festival itself is free to attend, but extras such as face painting, tombola, books, jams, and other treats sold in support of local groups may have additional charges.
Whats on?
The day as always, will be a jam packed event, full of active, creative and nature based outdoor activities and opportunities for everyone.
- Winston Plowes – Create a beautiful community mandala using natural materials.
- Ribble Rivers Trust – Enjoy nature crafts and take part in a freshwater Micro Safari to discover river wildlife.
- Chloe’s Facepaints – Get creative with nature-themed face painting. (Cost Applies)
- Calico Homes – Take part in fun environmental awareness games for children.
- Rainbow Tent Drummers – Experience drumming, woodland activities and a relaxing forest sound bath.
- Lancashire Wildlife Trust – Make your own moss bog in a jar and discover exciting new nature projects.
- Culture Burnley – Join a variety of workshops throughout the day in the Little Big Top.
- Go Velo – Try the Smoothie Bike, have a go on a bike, get a bike check-up with Dr Bike, and join led rides.
- Pendle Plant Craft – Take part in a guided foraging walks and talks.
- Burnley Youth Theatre – Enjoy Wild Wonders with crafts, storytelling, sensory play and outdoor activities inspired by children’s books.
- NGT Great Outdoors Team from Offshoots – Join guided walks, explore the Creative Autumn Towneley Village, and follow the self-led Autumn Trail.
- Pennine Lancashire Community Farm – Make your own seed bombs to take home.
- The Prospects Foundation – Visit the Eco Refill Shop and spin the daisy prize wheel for eco-themed prizes.
- YES Energy Solutions – Energy Explorers
- Friends of Ightenhill Park – Take part in a family scavenger hunt and nature trail.
- Tenderfoot Theatre – Join the Climate Café and explore climate action through creative conversation.
- Burnley Together – Discover food waste activities and sustainable growing ideas.
- Friends of Thompson’s Park – Enjoy Hook-a-Duck and take part in mindfulness tree and sapling planting activities.

New for this year, the Friends of Towneley Park Duck Race joins the Burnley Nature Festival programme!
For just £1 per duck, visitors can take part in this fun filled fundraiser and cheer their duck on to the finish line, with a £100 first prize up for grabs. Every ticket sold helps support the valuable work of the Friends of Towneley Park, funding projects and improvements that benefit the park and its visitors.
Duck tickets can be purchased online here – or from various venues across the borough.
Dress for the weather
The majority of the festival will be outdoors around Towneley Hall gardens, woods and Offshoots Community Garden. The festival aims to highlight all the fantastic ways to enjoy the outdoors, rain or shine. Unless a severe weather warning is in place, the event will go ahead, so dress for the weather.
