Tree Planting
Tree planting is at the heart of Burnley’s commitment to creating a greener, healthier, and more resilient town. The Council’s Greenspaces Team works closely with local residents, volunteers, and partner organisations to care for our existing green spaces and shape new ones for future generations. From supporting local ecology and boosting biodiversity to taking meaningful climate action and enhancing pride in our neighbourhoods, trees deliver countless benefits that enrich our environment and our community.

The Green Activities Coordinator plays a key role in this work, collaborating with schools and local businesses to deliver tree planting sessions across school grounds and business sites.
Businesses and organisations can also make a wider impact by supporting community planting days as part of their Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) commitments, helping to strengthen Burnley’s natural landscape while building team spirit and giving back locally.
Below is a short video showcasing a local company taking part in a tree planting CSR day. Their enthusiasm, teamwork, and commitment to Burnley’s #OutdoorTown highlight the powerful difference organisations can make when they get involved.

How to get involved?
If you’re a school looking to expand your outdoor learning opportunities, or a business wanting to make a positive environmental impact, we’d love to work with you. Get in touch with our Green Activities Coordinator ( hnazareth-kay@burnley.gov.uk) to arrange a tree planting session or to discuss how your organisation can support community planting projects.
Across our area, additional planting opportunities are regularly being added by local organisations, volunteer groups, and community partners, so it’s well worth checking back and exploring the pages below for more info.
