Tree Planting
Beat the Street Tree Planting
Beat the Street added a new dimension when it came to Burnley in 2023. Not only did players earn points which helped individuals and teams climb the leaderboards, but their points also earned trees. 2,000 points earned = 1 tree.
Over 2,500 trees were earned through playing and players, schools and community groups were invited back to help plant them across the borough.
The combination of tree planting and active community engagement helps foster a sense of pride of place and promotes healthier, more vibrant spaces for our residents to own and enjoy.

The partnership between Burnley Leisure and Culture and Burnley Borough Council helped to secure funding through Trees for Cities, which not only saw the planting of trees earned through playing Beat the Street, but saw 7,500 trees being planted across the borough during the November 2023 – March 2024 tree planting season.
