Walking

Walking

Step outside and uncover the sights and sounds that make Burnley truly special. From leisurely strolls along our charming canal to invigorating hikes through our lush parks and green spaces, every step offers an opportunity for discovery.

Wander through the historic streets of the town centre, where centuries of heritage come to life in the form of architectural marvels and hidden alleys waiting to be explored. Or venture off the beaten path and immerse yourself in the natural beauty of the surrounding countryside, where rolling hills, meandering rivers, and picturesque woodlands await your exploration.

2026 Walks Programme, Jan-April

Step into the new year with the January–April Walks Programme. This year’s programme is made possible thanks to our incredible partners, whose support helps create a wide range of walking opportunities across the borough for everyone to enjoy. From regular weekly strolls to special one-off events, there’s something to suit all interests and abilities.

You’ll find more information about each individual walk in the events calendar, but if you’d like to see the full programme in one place, you can pick up a leaflet from community, leisure, or health centres across the borough, or download it below.

Don’t forget to keep your eyes peeled for the summer programme, and even more walks later in the year.

Group and Guided Walks

There are a number of walking groups and guided walks across the borough that thrive thanks to the support of dedicated organisations. Check out these fantastic groups for more information and to find out how you can get involved in their walks.
